Just to let all those interested in the Primal Diet blog know that I have returned from my Hawaiian excursion and will write a detailed post, including information on the likelyhood of Aajonus doing an Australian workshop next winter, early in the new year. I look forward to continuing the discussion then. Thanks for your patience.

Lookin hot Scott. Saw a vid with Aajanous and two primal dieters at the Raw Olympics. Was that you? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=drDmOuM477w
How’d the raw vegans cop your diet? Can’t wait to hear more.

Thanks Joanne…Yeah that’s me with Kieba and Aajonus in the vid. I was amazed at the politics in the Raw food movement. Anyone eating meat and dairy, whether raw or not, is not well received in the raw community. As you can see by the photo, there are major differences in methodologies. I am the only meat eater in the shot. I think I had an impact !
More soon….

Hi again all…to update, Aajonus intends to travel to Australia in late August, early September of this year (2009). He will be in Asia prior to this and so it will be convenient to travel straight down here after that. So now is the time to express interest in attending a workshop (6-8 hours) receiving a mini-consult (20-30 minutes) or a full 70 minute personal consult including iris analysis. The cost of the workshop is currently being negotiated and will take into account the location. A full consultation is generally US$375, and a mini US$30.
Reading the book We want to Live (avalable at wewant2live.com) is a pre-requisite for attending any of Aajonus’ meetings.
The location of the workshop will be determined by the attendees. We will endevour to make it as convenient as possible for the majority to attend. We require 30+ workshop attendees and most of these to recieve mini or full consults with Aajonus.
NOW is the time to express your interest. To do so, contact me through this blog or Joanne or myself directly.

Hi Scott.
I am interested in attending Aajonus’s workshop & receiving a full personal consultation.
What city is it likely to be in? I live in Brisbane but am willing to travel. However if I can get the numbers would AV be interested in coming to Brisbane?
Regards
John Lemon

Hey Scott, I too am very interested for a full personal consult and workshop. I live closer to Sydney but will travel to Brisbane for it. Can’t believe it’s finally happening! Cheers

hi scott,
i’m new to your blog - very glad i found it. i’ve been doing partly raw but want to go completely raw for some health and digestion issues. however, sometimes when i eat raw ground beef i feel like it doesn’t digest very well. it just feels like a big brick in my stomach. also, it takes me forever to chew each bite. does anyone else have that problem with raw meat? as far as juicing, what do you juice, especially during the winter? i’m in the US (ohio) and during the winter there aren’t very many veggies in season, esp local ones. i have to buy everything from the grocery, and the veggies are from california and mexico. i guess it’s better than nothing. but i feel weird eating cucumbers and tomatoes in the winter time. you probably don’t have that problem in australia? do you use a green star juicer? i have an omega one, which i’m happy with. i make my juice everyday though, instead of every 3 days like aajonus does. and i just do 24 oz a day. anyway, thanks for your awesome blog!!

Hi Scott,
any tips on tenderizing grass fed beef?
regards,
Cathy.
ps,I’m the one who goes orange when I juice colored veggies!

GJ….You’re on the list. Keep watching this blog for further updates. Thanks for your interest.
Jan 20th, 2009 at 4:00 pm
Hyesun…I’m glad you found the blog too! Going completely raw will definitely address your health and digestion issues, which are most definitely related. If you have difficulty digesting raw meat, it is most likely as a result of the non-raw component of your diet complicating the digestive process. Eat raw meat on it’s own, or with raw honey and/or raw plain kefir (if available) to improve digestion. As far as chewing goes, if your meat is already ground, the requirement for chewing should be minimal.
As far as juicing goes, I generally use celery, parsley, cilantro and carrots in that order on a percentage basis. I also add peeled cucumber pureed (not juiced) to this mixture. I do all of my juicing in a Greenstar. I also blend tomatoes and peeled cucumbers together and drink this. Use whatever green leafy vegetables you can get seasonally. Juicing everyday is even better if you can afford the time…Scott

Hey Cathy…I would tend to go with a mechanical process for breaking down meat collagen, such as pounding. Papaya and pineapple also do a great job from a chemical perspective. Use the whole fruit blended, rather than their respective enzymes papain and bromelain in an extracted preperation. Soaking in kefir does the same job depending on what flavour you’re after. Do you intend to cook the meat afterwards? Otherwise just grinding/mincing tough cuts would be best…Scott.

Thanks heaps Scott!
I’ll be doing both, eating raw and eating just slighly cooked.
Jan 21st, 2009 at 12:35 am
Hi,
Scott, I was just wandering what you thought about what NT and EFLF says about raw juices? I have a shiny new juicer that is gathering dust (I just started NT and EFLF and stopped juicing/raw recipes after reading these books)… am thinking of getting back into vege juicing now :)
Cathy, I read a few internet posts a while back which said that whey was great for tenderising meat. Might be worth a try?

Hi again,
Forget my question Scott, I just found your other post and it had everything about juicing :-)
Kate.
Jan 21st, 2009 at 7:36 pm
Hi Kate…You’re right, I have posted previously about the practical aspects of juicing. It’s always a ‘juicy’ topic amongst NT followers. I have just posted a new topic on the traditional implications of juicing. It is titled Tradition- Loose excuse to refuse new juice use? Check it out and let me know what you think…Scott

Hello. I am from the states and will be in Brisbane until September 15th. I am hoping this visit from AV is still happening. I would be interested in a full consult if so. Please let me know when and where he is coming. Thank you so much. Can’t wait!
Jul 15th, 2009 at 3:50 pm
Hi Aaron, Aajonus is confirmed to make this visit. Please check the accompanying post on this blog- Primal Diet Aajonus Vonderplanitz Lecture/workshop and consultations, for more details. Hope you can make it…Scott.

Hey Scott. Thanks a lot. I just booked with Barbara yesterday and am looking froward to this event. Thanks for all the great info on this site. I am looking forward to meeting other like minded people, because with this particular diet it is extremely hard. Take care.

Hello Scott! I watched the youtube clip and got really inspired. I’ve been thinking of changing my diet for a long time now and your diet seemed perfect. I wonder one thing though, how safe is it for an 18 year old boy to eat raw chicken meat, and pig meat? I’m thinking about salmonella and germs in the pig.
I know It’s not common for the animals to have this, and it wouldn’t really bother me to be sick for a short period.
Also I wonder about the worms that you eat, I didn’t really catch why they were good against bacteria.
Dec 9th, 2009 at 4:40 pm
Mikael,
I’ve been eating raw chicken frequently for the past 6 years, and feeding it to my children also. Niether one of us, nor any of the many Primal dieters I know worldwide have ever had any problems eating raw chicken. It’s probably the most perpetuated of the microbe myths, suggesting that chicken meat has some sort of magical microbial powers which renders it harmful if consumed raw. You have been socially conditioned to accept this lie as fact. Anyone who suggests that raw chicken is harmful to eat has obviously not eaten any themselves. Same goes for pig.
The worms are not good ‘against’ bacteria, in fact they are full of it. A large aspect of this type of diet is achieving a digestive environment high in microbial activity to assist digestion. The worms are one type of microbe supplement of which there are many others. Scan through this blog (the primal diet section) for more discussions on these topics…

im confused scott, you say that raw animal products dont cause food poisoning but why on earth was aajonus vonderplanitz himself vomiting all day and night when he gave his talk in robina gold coast recently?
also scott what do you advise people that are concerned about parasitic infections or the chance of ecoli poisonings? id like to try this diet but my common sense just prevents me. im sure you have some info to help me decide and i really appreciate it scott.
also scott do you or would you kill your own animals? my vegan boyfriend mentioned that your white shirt looks nice and white with no blood stains on it. do you think we have been socially conditioned to be friends with animals and is it unatural not to want to murder an animal with our bare hands and consume it on the spot, blood guts, brains, vessels and all.
im a sports model and im getting great results on a low fat raw vegan diet high in sweet fruits but im always looking for something better.
thanks for being around to answer questions scott.

Good question. When I saw Aajonus on the Gold Coast it was the first time I had seen him in about 12 months. He looked terrible, very thin and pale, blood shot eyes and noticeably fatigued. He admitted to feeling tired and having lost weight whilst in the Phillipines but did not ellaborate. This was 2 days before he gave the workshop. I thought he was experiencing a regular (albeit quite severe) detoxification but he has since revealed the shocking truth behind his illness. Apparently whilst travelling through the Phillipines exploring possible retreat sites, he was seized by drug cartel associates (presumably) and injected with an unknown substance which he believes was intended to give the appearance that he had contracted swine flu. He gives a thorough account of this in his 2 most recent newsletters but I have not spoken to him personally about the matter.
Nevertheless, despite his excuse, there are other quite feasable reasons why someone might be induced to vomit sporadically which are not related to food poisoning. The most common one on a raw food diet is toxins being dumped into and removed via the stomach. These toxins are usually dislodged from there storage sites upon beginning a cleansing type diet (including veganism) or at any time when the body feels the opportunity warrants a ‘healing crisis’.
Parasites, bacteria, viruses and fungi are not the enemy. They help to perform the function of regenerating cellular waste when the body is in such a state that it cannot cope with the task itself. I have never experienced or witnessed any illness or disease that can be logically linked to any of these factors as causative. Your common sense in this case has been infiltrated by big pharma who want you to believe this theory. Experiment for yourself and you’ll soon be convinced of their deceptive ways.
If the situation warranted it, of course I would kill my own animals (and plants) in order to survive. We have most definitely been socially conditioned to view real food as repulsive and the alternative highly processed foods as acceptable. Who do you think is responsible for this view? Agribussiness is one of the largest industries in the world (along with pharmaceuticals and telecommunications) and they rely on this condition entirely for their fortunes. At this time I have people who look after my food production, but at some time in the future I would like to lessen my reliance on them and live self sufficiently.
I’m glad you’re looking to optimize your health/appearance as this shows alot of self respect. I’m sure you’ve read my views on veganism on this site, but to reiterate, I believe you will require a more sustainable regenerative element to your diet (such as raw meat) in the near future in order to maintain your lean mass. Very few people do well long term on a vegan diet but I’m happy to discuss this further if you wish and answer any other questions you might have along the way.

Hello, Scott! Yes, both Aajonus and Jeff Slay told me about how you and Jeff made the PD workshop a success despite Aajonus’ unavailability. You have since read the newsletter describing the incident which somewhat disabled him and you have seen the newsletter giving third party verification, but people reading your blog have not seen these so it must appear pretty mysterious. If anyone wants to subscribe to view all the newsletters which are archived, all the interviews including the one about the swine flu hoax, read his articles and so on, they can subscribe at http://www.wewant2live.com/site/811618/form/169529.
It just occurred to me today that I would like to re-connect with you and the Primal Dieters ‘down under’. I will be checking your blog more often. You might appreciate some videos on You Tube under the name of wildandraw.
P.S. I see your message with Michael about chicken. My wife Barbara and I have a recipe that makes it taste great; we go through about 2 1/4 pounds of chicken per week.

thanks for replying scott. much appreciated.
you really believe aajonus got kidnapped by a drug cartel etc and injected with swine flu? :)
i read his book ‘we want to live’ and he talked abouts all the drugs he took and how he committed to a diet of 70% raw foods for life’ page 43. his australian tour sickness just sounded like a poor excuse and your right, he looks really really ill to me and he isnt a tenth as fit as you are scott and he doesnt have much muscles either.
if you fed your child some raw animal and they got food poisoning, would you take em to hospital and what do advise people that eat rotten meat and get really really ill?
do you have any pets scott? would you eat them if they died? and im not making fun, but it seems like such a waste if our pet dies and we bury it and then go and buy some plastic wrapped animal that someone else had to kill, gut and clean and prep and we eat it with nice cutlery etc.
thanks for answering scott.
apparently dr douglas graham the 100% raw vegan guru, challenged aajonus to a friendly physical challenge but aajonus refused. ive met doug and he has a ripped 8 pak stomach!! and can walk across a football field on his hands! impressive!
how did you go at the raw olympics scott. how did you go in that sprint race photo you put up?
did you and robert cheeke or the other vegans from www.veganbodybuilding.com have a bench press comp?
there is some australian raw vegan dude on youtube called ‘durianrider’ whom has challenged you or any other primal dieter to a friendly comp. cardio followed by a bench press comp. 500$ prize money. he says he wants to ‘own you’.. :)
sounds like some trash talking to me!! come on scott you gonna shut this dude up or what? :)

Hi bananabikini,
As I said, I don’t have any personal account of the event, only what I’ve read in PD newsletters so I have little evidence to either support or deny aajonus’s claims. However, since aajonus has made the claim and provided some evidence then I see no point in attempting to disprove his story. I see many more reasons why this could have happened as opposed to reasons why he would fabricate the whole thing.
He looked ill to me back in October, but 12 months prior he looked like the fittest, healthiest 60 year old I have seen, after 40 years or so on his diet. It would be irrational to suggest that one more year on the diet could have caused his poor condition. Comparing him to me would also be irrational since there is almost 30 years age difference.
I would visit a hospital if I or anyone in my family was faced with a life threatening medical emergency. I can’t see this happening from eating food as I know it. I have never had to advise anyone on what to do if they become ill from the food on a PD since it is yet to happen. However I do advise to use caution when beginning to use high meat since some may be less tolerant of it’s effects and this may cause panic.
Currently I don’t have any pets as such. If I raised animals for the purpose of consumption then I would eat them. I wouldn’t eat animals I kept as companions.
I don’t know Dr Graham, but as a raw vegan guru, no doubt he has very exposed abdominals. Sounds like he’s just as confused with walking as he is with nutrition.
I attended the raw games as a volunteer to assist my good friend Kieba (Dawn Blacklidge) who was a co-organizer of the event. Kieba is a great athlete herself, but neither of us had much spare time to compete. However I did compete in the first round of the 40 yard dash (the photo you refer to) which I won. I did not contest the final. There was no bench press event, although there was a strongman competition, which again I could not contest.
None of what I do from a nutritional (and philosophical) perspective is about comparing myself to others. I just try to be the best I can, and I assume others do the same. It is also none of my business what others think of me or my methods. I’ve never heard of ‘durianrider’ nor been challenged to any contest. If I did I would likely laugh it off just as aajonus has done since I have nothing to prove. I do know that no-one will ever have the capacity own me, since I’m not for sale.

Hi Scott
Hope the new year is going well for you.
Just been laying in bed listening to the rain on the roof, and decided to get up for a while and check your sites.
Just a quick word on the vegan guy, durianrider. i think you do know him. Real name Harley Juhnstone, 24hour bike endurance champ, etc.
Bananabikini sounds a bit sus, i could be wrong, but may be an undercover banana(or durian?) The plot thickens!! :-)
There’s been a lot of posts on these sites on youtube-
raw meat eating rots teeth! aajonus vonderplanitz got it wrong!
aajonus vonderplanitz aka primal diet gets debunked by 100% raw vegan ultra endurance athlete!!
Jan 5th, 2010 at 2:51 pm
Thanks Keith, the new year is off to a great start.
Still not sure who durianrider/Harley is or why people find it necessary to mask their identity on these forums. Or perhaps I do know why…!
I’m also at a loss as to why the raw vegan community is so opposed to the primal diet. Aren’t we all attempting to achieve the same thing albeit through slightly different means? These false, irrational and baseless youtube posts you refer to do nothing to help either party.
If I started spending alot of time attempting to debunk other nutritional protocols rather than focussing on my own objective, I’d probably have to start wondering if it were other people, or infact myself who I was trying to convince..!

MY computer is falling behind. I’ve lost so many posts so I just kept on reading but stopped posting. THis is a sort of tester :)
Happy New Year Scott and Nourished friends! xoxox
That’s very disturbing news about Aajonas and I hope he gets well again. Going in to read more……….

Hi Jim E
It looks like its $85 to subscribe to that site.
Jan 8th, 2010 at 3:01 am
Scott just a quick question about high meat. I put some heart and liver/organic meat away in glass pyrex container a month or so ago but I forgot to air it. Is this still ok to use as high meat or have I ruined it?
So gglad my last post came through :)
Jan 10th, 2010 at 2:32 pm
Hi Cathy and same to you.
That meat you speak of will still be fine. Just begin airing it as if you were just starting. All that happens is that it hasn’t progressed through many bacterial stages since an aerobic environment is necessary for this.
