Scott Wheeler, 5 years on the Diet, has a Blog with great discussions on the Primal Diet.  His web site: www.flexrx.nourished.com.au/archive

Recently I lived in San Diego for 5 years where I attended many events and received several full and a few mini consultations with Aajonus.
From these events, and reading his book several times, it became easier to understand the diet and follow his individual recommendations.

It is essential to read his book “We Want to Live” before having a consultation, and is downloadable from the web site  www.wewant2live.com

Unfortunately Aajonus only has 3 days to spend in Australia so we had to go where the most demand was. I would highly recommend that you organize to spend the weekend in question on the Gold Coast if at all possible. Barbara Morgan is organizing the location on the Gold Coast and is also trying to organize the billeting of travelers such as yourself with like minded locals. If this sounds appealing please contact Barbara for more info at the contact listed above.

  3. Cool thanks.

    What is a “workshop” anyway?

Do you know if Aaajonus talks about some topics he hasn’t discussed in his books because I have read them both and it would be a little disappointing if he just repeats the book material in a lecture format without anything new.

    Paul,

The workshop is a day long discussion of the biology of the human body and how Primal nutrition relates to it. It has alot of information which is outside of the scope of the books and also provides an opportunity to ask Aajonus questions to clarify certain aspects. He does discuss his personal experiences (some of which are in the books) which is extremely engaging, but mostly he gives a thorough account of how the human body should work, as opposed to how it is conventionally treated with modern medicine and processed foods/chemicals. I highly recommend it to anyone from health conscious individuals, to skeptics/doctors.

  5. Thanks for interesting tips, I plan to read Aaajonus’ books. Hope to meet him some day.
I have got some overweight problem and nothing cold help, its time to try something new.
    Regards,
    Anie

what is your knowledge on qualities of meats packed in plastic with use by dates? Is there anything to be aware of ? Note- i am not asking about supermarket meat as i know they often use gas as preservative but meat you can buy at farmers markets and good butchers - they just suck the air out of packets.Does the meat continue aging this way and get more tender? Any bacteria active there?

    Hi luba,
Unfortunately meat packed in plastic is largely unavoidable these days. Even my special weekly order of organic pastured beef, chicken and offal is vacuum sealed in plastic bags. As soon as I get them home, I exchange this packaging for glass jars.
Without oxygen microbes cannot flourish as they are aerobic in nature. Therefore bacteria are not so active in meat stored this way. To encourage the proliferation of bacteria, store meat in sealed glass jars in the refrigerator, and take them outside every 3-4 days. Take the lids of and wave them around a little to facilitate oxygen exchange.
‘Ageing’ meat in the more conventional sense is more of an enzymatic process, whereby the meat’s own proteolytic enzymes break down the collegen causing tenderization and enhanced flavor. This is usually performed in a temperature controlled environment whilst the meat is still in it’s primal cuts (ie. not in individually packaged cuts).
